2 sticks butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 Tbs. cocoa
1 Tbs. vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup (or more) chocolate chips
1 cup toasted pecan, chopped
Cream butter, shortening, and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating
well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients, then add to sugar/shortening mixture, alternating with the milk. Add vanilla. Gently stir
in chocolate chips and pecans. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Optional: You can frost the cake with chocolate frosting. But in my opinion, this cake is so good you don't need frosting!
